September is the perfect time for all things apple! And apple activities for elementary students are a great way to seamlessly dive deep into a subject across all of your content areas. Apple Activities for Literacy
You can incorporate almost any subject into reading and writing, and apples are no exception! But making it worthwhile and aligned to your standards- something that will help your student progress and move the needle- now that is a bit more challenging.
In the lower grades, research shows that beginning readers benefit greatly from decodable texts. Decodable texts are great and so much fun, but it can be a challenge to find decodables that incorporate specific subjects and themes. That’s why I have begun to create my own decodable texts, and I would love to share them with you!
Which one do you like better? Red apples, green apples, or yellow? That’s a question I love to ask my kindergartners. After a taste test (buy just a couple of apples and cut them up into tiny pieces to save some money), students can write about their favorite apple, and even tell why!
